HF Financial Joins Taylor’s Tale in the Fight for a Cure
During the first quarter of 2011, HF Financial dedicated their efforts to raising funds for Taylor's Tale, which supports Batten disease research and promotes awareness of this neurodegenerative disorder. Taylor's Tale was inspired by Taylor King, whose father Jim King is a financial services professional with HF Financial.
"This cause has particular meaning to our organization because it impacts the family of one of our longtime agents, Jim King," said David V. Cove, CFP®, vice president of sales operations. "I doubt that we will ever focus on a cause that is more important or more personal than helping a member of our own family find a cure for his child."
The original campaign goal was set at $10,000. However, support was so strong that the agency surpassed its goal in mid-February - two and a half months ahead of schedule. On February 16, the agency doubled its campaign goal to $20,000. In order to meet the goal, HF Financial organized a full slate of events and other fundraising activities, including an after-work mixer at Blackfinn restaurant, a bowl-a-thon at AMF Lanes, a Charlotte Checkers game, a 50/50 raffle throughout the quarter and Taylor's Wall of Fame, featuring cards purchased by employees for a dollar each.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone at HF Financial for their support of our quest to cure infantile Batten disease," said Laura King Edwards, president of Taylor's Tale. "This agency and its employees have embraced our efforts."

Employees brought their families and had fun as HF Financial joined the Charlotte Checkers game in the Time Warner Arena. Taylor King and some of her family also enjoyed the game.
